Did everyone make it through the chilly temperatures we’ve seen these past couple of weeks? And the snow that Toronto and surrounding areas got this past week! Quite the adventures from what we’ve heard. We didn’t get nearly as much up this way, but it is still beautiful and snowy, making conditions great for snowmobiling, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing around here.
We were able to get away for a few hours this afternoon and explore more of the BDSC trails and they are in fantastic condition! A reminder to everyone that this is a great weekend to get out and explore because you can register for FREE trail permits for tomorrow and Sunday. If you’re looking for a nice ride with some delicious food at the other end on Saturday, we would highly recommend the Swiss Bear in Apsley! Great food, great service – definitely a must visit.
For something closer to home, stop by The Catch on the 507 across from Beaver Lake Road.

Have fun, and as always stay away from running water areas.

It certainly looks and feels like winter up here! We are starting to run our sleds a bit on the back lakes and its nice to get out. The Buckhorn District Snowmobile Club groomers are working hard to get the trails packed, groomed and ready for what we hope will be a great season ahead. If you’re venturing out on the lakes, please note that there are several pressure cracks, some hidden by the snow we got this week. Thanks to a customer for letting us know that there is one running across Mississagua basically from Stone’s Bay to West Bay. As usual, stay away from running water and current areas.
Reminder that we are closed on Sundays this winter.

Play safe and have a snowy weekend!

As we get closer to another weekend, we wanted to keep you up to date on ice conditions. They are very inconsistent from lake to lake. According to our trusted source for all things ice related, the back lakes range from open in spots, to 3″ in some spots and 11″ in other places, so our advice is steer clear for now. Temps haven’t been consistently low enough to make the lakes reliable and we want to make sure everyone stays safe out there.

On another note, at the end of November we attended the annual Boating Ontario Conference. For the first time, we took some of the crew here with us and it was a great 3 days of networking, information sharing, and learning about the ongoing issues that our industry faces. The industry tradeshow on the first night, complete with dinner and activities was a great way to kick off the conference. This was followed by two days of excellent keynote speakers and informative workshops, and the event wrapped up with a formal President’s dinner which recognizes individuals and businesses who are leaders in the Ontario marine industry. Thank you Boating Ontario for another great event!

Enjoy the rest of your week and play safe.
