Well we promised exciting news and updates this week and we hope we can live up to that promise. We have been busy for the last 4 weeks building new docks! These include new gas docks (not pictured), and 2 sections of brand new slips to replace the oldest docks here. Led by the expertise of Ryan, our resident dock builder, we’ve had help from all of our full time staff, and even a guest appearance from a friendly face who lives south of the border! We’ve jumped on them, ran across them and tried to rock them to make sure they are sturdy and stable and so far they have passed with flying colours! The foot of ice they are on might have impacted test results…we’ll get back to you when they are floating.

There isn’t much else to report here other than there is still lots of ice on the lakes, but they have started bringing the water levels up, so the ice is slowly pulling away from shore.
We’ve updated our events page for this season with as much as we know of so far. Lori Harper is running an Emergency First Aid and CPR-C course at the community centre on June 8th, as well as swimming lessons again this summer.

We are still closed on Sundays until Mother’s Day, but here Monday – Saturday from 9am-4pm. Have a great weekend and enjoy the spring-like weather they are predicting.

Just a quick update for those who are thinking of venturing up over the weekend. The roads are getting soft and are icy in spots, and despite the warmer sun, there is still a lot of snow in the bush and in areas that haven’t been cleared. If your lane wasn’t plowed over the winter you will likely need snowshoes or skis to get in. We still see people travelling by atv on the ice, but again if you are not 100% sure of the currents and areas to stay away from, it’s probably not a good idea to venture out now. The ice isn’t going anywhere anytime soon, but the conditions are changing daily.

We re-open on Monday, and for the month of April are open Monday-Saturday from 9am-4pm, and closed on Good Friday.
More exciting news and updates to come next week! Stay tuned and have a great weekend!

Welcome to Spring, and welcome home Leah! Although the sun is warm its still a bit chilly out there.

We are busy busy here getting ready for whenever the spring weather truly arrives, and the boat launch begins. Although right now that boat launch is still a fair ways out based on how much ice is still on the lakes. We’ve been told that the small back lakes have almost 40″ of ice on them, and some of the larger lakes somewhere between 20 and 30 inches so there’s still a long way to go before we see open water. That being said, please be careful if you venture out as there are lots of areas, particularly near shore, with running water that are starting to get soft or open up.

As we start to think about spring and the boat launch, please remember that we require at least 2 weeks notice to get your boat out of storage and ready to rock for another season, longer if there are repairs to do or work you’d like done. You can email Michelle (michelle@littlegullmarina.ca) and she will take care of getting your toys in the queue for spring launch.

Enjoy the sunshine and have a great week!
