Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday dear LEAH (we may be good at some things here at Little Gull, but singing is not one of them and I’m definitely no exception)!  Always a trooper, Leah spends her birthday each year prepping for May long weekend chaos in one way or another. But there’s always time for cupcakes at coffee break!  If you’d like to help her celebrate her birthday, she would be very grateful if you could save any corks you have collected to help out her Dragon Boat team.

We were all waiting with bated breath to see what Premiere Ford’s announcement yesterday would hold.  We are happy to let you know that beginning on Saturday morning, marinas are allowed to re-open at their discretion.  Over the past two weeks, our number one priority has been to find a way of following all protocols to keep our staff healthy, while getting boats ready for the season. In light of this, we have decided to remain closed to customers through this long weekend and until further notice. We know this may not be the news you would like to read, but one of our concerns is that if any one of us becomes unwell, we must shut down again for at least 2 weeks.  That is certainly not a path we want to go down, and therefore we feel that it is the best decision for the entire crew here, and we hope for all of you, so that we can continue to work towards getting all of the boats launched without falling any further behind than we already are due to the previous mandated shutdown.

For those of you venturing up this weekend, public boat launches will also be open tomorrow for recreational use! This is by far the strangest Victoria Day weekend prep and season kick off we have experienced. We sincerely hope that things will continue to settle and everyone will soon be able to enjoy cottage season to the fullest!  We look forward to seeing you all soon and appreciate your understanding as we navigate these uncharted waters.

Enjoy the long weekend, beware the blackflies (yep they’re here) and we will see you soon!

So is that the end of the snow for the year?!  What a week its been for weather.  They say its called May because “it may snow, it may rain, it may be 20 degrees…” Seems pretty accurate this month so far.

According to the government of Ontario, no decision has been made yet regarding when marinas can fully open. As a result, we will be closed to customers through this weekend and until further notice.  We are continuing to work hard to get boats launched though, and it is nice to see the slips filling up.

Our sales page has been updated, and we will continue to add to this over the coming days and weeks.

What a great week weather wise to start back to work.

As you know, we are still closed to the public and not permitted to deliver boats, nor can they be picked up, but we are working hard to get boats ready to go for when this changes. We don’t know when this will happen, but wait as patiently as possible for updates from the premier and will keep you posted as we hear of anything.

We are happy to introduce you to the newest member of our LGM Crew,  Matt Drimmie, as our newest service technician.  Matt has a very friendly and calm demeanour, and comes to us with a wealth of knowledge and experience.  He will be a great addition to our team.

It’s that time of year when docks, canoes, etc. tend to be found in places that they weren’t left in the fall.  If you are missing anything, or find something that doesn’t belong to you, you are welcome to let us know (ideally with a photo) and we will post it on our Lost & Found page. Maybe through word of mouth and sharing we can help things get returned to their homes.
